Mobile Search – The Next Big Thing?

Mobile Search – The Next Big Thing?

Annual mobile phone sales are predicted to hit 1 billion by 2009 and there are already 4 times as many internet-enabled phones in the world than there are PC’s.

According to Dotmobi (www.dotmobi.net), one third of the global population are connected via mobile phones today and approximately half are expected to be using a mobile Internet phone by 2008. An IPSOS survey suggests that 29% of mobile phone users in the UK searched for news and information on their handset during 2005.

The statistics are impressive and will get any marketers pulse racing. But it does seem as if we’ve been hearing about the potential of mobile search market for some time, and yet very few travel companies appear to be active in the mobile search space and mobile e-commerce revenues are still modest.

Up until now most advertisers have been ignoring mobile as a marketing channel, according to a new report by Forrester Research called “Interactive Marketing Channels to Watch in 2007.” It suggests that only 13 percent of marketers use mobile text message ads and only 11 percent bother advertising on wireless application protocol (WAP) sites. It seems clear that advertisers are waiting for evidence that the market is there before deciding to jump in themselves.

Barrier and limitations to growth

Despite the huge number of people that have access to the mobile internet there are a number of barriers to mobile web adoption. For example;

1. Cost and clarity – carrier data plans can be expensive and confusing compared to normal internet access plans.

2. Screen Size – the limited screen size of many hand sets negatively impacts the user’s browsing experience.

3. Ease of use – due to the limited screen size there is an increased number of clicks needed to get to content.

4. Lack of content – there is a ‘walled garden’ approach to the content offered by many mobile network operators which means that not all mobile users get full access to content.

Competition – the WiFi explosion

Another factor that may have impacted on the growth of mobile internet usage is the increasing availability of high-speed WiFi internet access in many public areas. Airports, hotels, bars, libraries and commercial shopping centres are increasingly offering WiFi, and it’s often free. This has encouraged users to use laptops and PDA’s to access the internet while on the move rather than through mobile phones.

Mobile is the perfect advertising platform

Despite these barriers to growth travel companies cannot afford to ignore the e-commerce and marketing potential of this platform. All of the barriers to growth outlined above will be overcome over time as technology improves and network and content providers adapt their services to facilitate the growth. The issue is not really whether the mobile search market will make an impact, but how it will make an impact.

In many ways mobile is the perfect advertising platform. It’s always with the consumer, it’s always on, it provides personal profiling data, it provides location data, it’s interactive and it has multiple billing options already built in.

At present the major bulk of mobile searches are related to ring tones, news, entertainment, maps and directions, directory listings, local restaurants and other local services. As many as 60,000 UK users a day are checking train times on their mobile phones.

Local search is clearly the natural mobile advertising opportunity. Going forward, more complex searches and bigger transactions will become viable as technology advances and users become more comfortable with using their handsets for searching.

In a recent Travelmole interview, Nancy Lyndhurst, the product manager for O2, said some of the larger travel brands like Cathay Pacific, Accor Hotels and KLM are already successfully marketing with mobile technology. She also cites the example of Lastminute who received a £3,000 holiday booking online from a customer using their mobile telephone.

Mobile marketing spend to reach $11 billion by 2011

A recent report by the telecom division of Informa Group stated that advertisers are expected to spend a massive $11 billion on mobile marketing by 2011. Optimistic predictions like this have compelled the major search engines to start making significant investment in the future of mobile search themselves.

Google have predicted that their own mobile division, based in London, will “become the biggest driver of new business” for the company.

Google has developed its own mobile search engine and has signed a number of deals to provide mobile search services to major operator portals. Motorola have even agreed to add a dedicated “Google” button to some of its hand sets. LG, one of the top 5 mobile firms in the world, have announced that they will start to ship handsets pre-loaded with Google services from this month.

Yahoo has unveiled a new application called Yahoo Go Mobile which makes its various services available on certain phones. Not to be outdone, Microsoft launched Live Search for Mobile in February at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

There are also a number of start ups like Jumptap and Medio who will be bringing services to the new mobile search space.

It’s clear that the major search properties, in partnership with the phone manufacturers and network services, are intent on driving the mobile search sector forward. With this kind of momentum there’s no doubt that mobile search marketing will eventually become a major part of online marketing, it’s just a question of when. Could 2007 be the year of mobile search?

Using Mobile Marketing To Increase Business And Sales

Technology allows us to do many things. We can go anywhere at top speed, see anything as instantly as it happens, and buy anything from any location. Technology also allows us to advertise on anything. Mobile marketing uses technology to advertise on mobile devices, such as cell phones and tablets. The advice in this article will get you started with mobile marketing.

Keep your material clean in order to keep your brand clean. Sending out raw, unfiltered material, even if you think it’s worthy of attention, can be detrimental to your mobile marketing efforts. Things don’t have to be outlandish to draw attention. They just have to be worthy of someone’s time.

A key tip to a mobile marketing campaign is to stay focused on what your customers want and need. In order to do this you have to get inside your customers head and think about what they are looking for in contrast to what you want to provide. You only have a few seconds to grab their attention so use it wisely.

Build exclusivity and status into your mobile marketing. Mobile devices themselves have become aspirational. Phones, tablets and even some mobile apps have become symbols of status. Follow suit with your mobile marketing by offering exclusive content to your mobile readers or downloads only available to those who have subscribed for mobile messaging.

Don’t forget email when you are building your mobile marketing strategy. Modern smart phones have rich email clients or the ability to open web-based email clients like Gmail or Yahoo. If you are targeting mobile users with your email campaign, be sure to optimize you email creative to make sure it is effective on a smaller screen.

Make sure that your website is mobile-friendly. Your mobile-friendly site should not be cluttered with graphics, and should only include basic but important information about your business that a mobile user can quickly get to. Mobile users do things quickly, and your site must display efficiently on their mobile devices if you want them to visit you often.

Use mobile marketing to get more personal with your reader. Telling a story about your company or giving a testimonial, creates an emotional reaction within the reader, which can endear him or her to your sales pitch. The more that your readers feel they know your company and what you represent, the more likely they are to be proud to buy from you.

Do not use text abbreviations in your mobile marketing message. While it is acceptable for person to person communication, it looks unprofessional coming from a business. Also avoid using all caps in your message. Your consumers will feel like they are being yelled at. However, it is acceptable to use all caps in your call to action.

As stated before in the article above, we can do many things with technology. We can go anywhere, see anything, and even advertise on anything. With mobile marketing, anyone can advertise on any mobile platform, whether it is a cell phone or tablet. Using the advice from this article, you can use mobile marketing to advertise anything.

Mobile Poker from Ongame. Part two.

Very important feature at the mobile poker room is statistics option. You can view best hands (online or offline mode), game statistics (real money, play money, or offline tournaments) and hand history. The game statistics can be reset at any time – this will then reset all the previously saved details.

I wouldn’t specially review the network as a whole or a particular mobile pokerroom, it has been already done briefly in the “Mobile poker room reviews”.

Here I shall turn our attention to the problem of selection a certain mobile poker room to play. As for me, I played in mobile PokerRoom, because I have an account there, plus I wanted to have a look at their mobile casino games. I would rather put it like this: if you are interested only in poker as such, and you don’t need a mobile casino or sportsbook then play in EuroPoker, they specialize in this game; they have bonuses and various poker promotions. BWin is not that generous in respect to the mobile casino bonuses, but from one account you can play at their mobile casino as well as place a bet the sportsbook.

PokerRoom besides poker has also a casino (you can use a joint account), but worth mentioning, the mobile CasinoRoom offers now only one game – blackjack. The game weighs a bit less comparing to the other mobile casinos, – only 95 Kb, graphics is good, but a bit too fine, maybe because of the fact that they offer a game up to five boxes. I personally gave it a try and played simalteneously at two. The table limite is wide enough – $1-$300, I played at $3. The game was relatively smooth, though rather often there were series of 3-5 wins or 3-5 losses. I got a record win series – 12 wins in a row (and 5 losses at maximum)! Easy to guess, I finished my play session with not bad winnings. It resulted in 50 wins, 45 losses and 5 ties. The blackjacks let me down only ones, but with a double downs was OK: won 8 out of 10. As you can imagine, I enjoyed that! One of the most distinctive features of the mobile poker room is the ability for users to make deposits and withdrawals to and from a real money account via their mobile phone, as well as depositing via Moneybookers.

Other mobile poker rooms.
As I have already mentioned, there are not many mobile poker rooms yet. Factually, I could find the info on the mobile poker at PartyPoker web site, but they only have mobile Poker Trainer with a simple poker bot to sharpen your poker skills.

Also, it is necessary to mention Ultimate Bet mobile poker room, with software developed by Phantom Fiber. The problem with this mobile poker room is that comparing the room with Ongame, mobile poker players have no access to the online poker tables. Ongame has some limits, but the player is able to have access from the phone to the same tables, as online player. With Ultimate Bet, access is given only to special tables for a mobile poker version.

Mobile casinos as well as mobile poker companies definitely would be adding more games selection to the Mobile Gaming software, so keep an eye out for new additions.

Mobile Homes And Property Taxes In Wisconsin

Mobile Homes And Property Taxes In Wisconsin

In Wisconsin the assessment of a mobile home only has to be done from the point of view meaning the outside can be used to assess the mobile home, however an inside assessment does help. Mobile homes only have to be assessed every five years, therefore the assessed value and the market value are with in ten percent of each other. Mobile homes in Wisconsin can be assessed for taxes as personal or real property. This also means a mobile home may be subject to no property taxes.

If you have a mobile home that is on a foundation, it is considered a real property. If it is on wheels or no foundation, it is considered personal property. It also has to be on land owned by the mobile home owner. Therefore, if you do not own the land and there is no foundation to say, it is personal property and not subject to property taxes. Recreational vehicles and campers are not subject to property taxes as well as personal tax liabilities as well. Just because a mobile home has wheels, does not always make it exempt from property taxes.

Property tax laws governing mobile homes are difficult to understand whether you live in Wisconsin or any other state. Many things are considered before you are liable for property taxes. You might think your mobile home should be subject to property taxes, but the taxing authority may consider it a personal tax issue. A mobile home is also measured for the length and width, which helps an assessor determine if it qualifies for property taxes. This will give the square footage of the mobile home, which has to be a minimum of so many square feet to be considered a dwelling with potential property tax liability.

If your mobile home is subject to a fee for parking that is common with mobile parks, your mobile home is not charged property taxes. This is because you do not own the property and you are paying rent to park your mobile home in the park. Therefore, you owe no property taxes. You are however required to pay the parking fee that can be a nice size amount of money. This is besides your monthly payment owed to a lender who holds the lien on the mobile home. You will however have to claim the mobile home as a personal tax.

Property taxes in Wisconsin for mobile homes are as follows, mobile homes subject to property taxes are any size on a foundation with utilities hooked up on land that is owned by the mobile home owner, but they are subject to personal tax but only if there is no parking fee paid. Exempt from property taxes are recreational mobile homes and campers as well as vans and buses. Units that are on wheels and transported to a site for assembly of sections are subject to property taxes, this would be a twin section unit. Mobile homes for sale on a dealer’s lot are not subject to property taxes in Wisconsin as well.

Mobile Phones – Why Thin Is In And Bulky Is Out

Mobile Phones – Why Thin Is In And Bulky Is Out

Looking back at the past, mobile phones have had a big development and improvement. Gone are the days when people used bulky and large mobile phone devices which in the contrary to its size, only incorporated the basic and simple features. With the technology and trend, mobile phones have become sleek, slim, fashionable and sophisticated.

Mobile phones used to be big and bulky. The functions were just for making and taking calls. Nowadays, you can find lighter mobile phones with multiple features not to mention that the prices are getting down giving the buyers greater deals with the number of uses incorporated on the phone.

One great wonder thin mobile phones have is that with its small and sleek size, the user can actually listen to music, record videos or take pictures. Mobile phones nowadays are more than just a communication device. It’s more of life and excitement.

Why is bulky out? There are a number of reasons for this.

1. A bulky phone is annoying to carry. You can’t just put your big mobile phone in your pocket and you wouldn’t want to go around all the time carrying a bag or purse to place your mobile phone in.
2. Bulky phones are not fashionable and not sophisticated. The early phones do not come in different colors and designs. Although some bulky phones are now available in different colors, these phones still do not have the sense of fashion and elegance.
3. Most bulky phones do not have a carry around charger. They have a charging set that is impossible to take anywhere you go. One good thing about bulky phones is that they come with extra battery pack but some people do not feel comfortable changing their batteries especially when the mobile phone runs out of battery while in use. It is still more convenient to just plug in your mobile phone and continue with what you are doing.
4. Some bulky mobile phones do not have as much features as those slimmer ones. Although mobile phone manufacturers have come up with bulky phones with multiple features, bulky phones still have the connotation to people that these mobile phones are less powerful and less useful than the thin mobile phones.
5. Mobile phones are hand held devices. It means you can take it anywhere or have it with you even when you are busy of doing something. Thus, accidents are most likely to happen to your mobile phone when not taken care of. The impact of shock to bulky mobile phones is greater than thinner ones. This is because of the size and weight. Moreover, the greater the shock it gets, the harder to fix it.

Why is thin in? There are also many reasons for that.
1. Gone are the days for bulky mobile phones. Everywhere you go, you can see different styles and brands of slim and thin mobile phones. People know that the trend for mobile phones is focused on the thinner phones.
2. Thin mobile phones come in multiple features. These phones have camera, video recorder and voice recorder. These phones are also Wi-fi ready. It means that you can browse or surf the internet in any Wi-fi spot places.
3. The memory of thin mobiles phones is significantly higher than bulky mobile phones. Some thin mobile phones have now 8 gigabytes memory and some have even greater. Having a high memory enables the user to store different files such as audio files, video files, games and photos.
4. Some thin mobile phones are now enabled with computer features that allow the user to open and work on word documents, powerpoint files and excel files.
5. These days, thin mobile phones are easier to fix than the large mobile phones. Because thin is in, many manufacturers have come up with the spare parts that will be needed in case the mobile phone gets broken. Moreover, many mobile phone technicians have focused on their expertise in repairing the slim and small mobile phones.
6. Thin mobile phones are simply sleek, elegant and fashionable. They come in hundreds of designs and numbers of colors. One can choose from themes provided in the unit or simply download them from the internet. These phones are also loaded with ring tones and messaging features that the owner can choose from. Thin mobile phones also have casings that are changeable allowing the owner to constantly change from one to another. The owner may vary the color of the phone depending on the color of his shirt or bag.

The abovementioned are just some of the many reasons people go for thin mobile phones. With all the features and convenience a thin mobile phone can offer, it’s no wonder that nowadays, thin is in and bulky is out.

What Exactly is an Intel Centrino Mobile Notebook?

What Exactly is an Intel Centrino Mobile Notebook?

There has been a lot of confusion over the use of the term Intel Centrino and what it actually means. An Intel Centrino mobile notebook is actually a combination of Intel products, including what is marked as the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor, put together to create a wireless networking, high performance Intel Centrino mobile notebook.

When wireless networking became popular, Intel introduced the Intel Centrino mobile notebook concept to make it easier for people to get a wireless networking computer. Instead of fishing around for the right parts and the like, Intel effectively made a package that would give them these things they were looking for. The specifications for an Intel Centrino Mobile Notebook cover an Intel chipset, a Pentium M Processor (often referred to as an Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor) and Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection. In fact, any Intel Centrino Mobile Notebook is basically an all Intel machine. Practically all of the internal parts will be Intel parts.

The Intel Centrino Mobile Laptop processor is an Intel Pentium M Processor. Confusion between the Pentium M processor and Centrino is common, but the Pentium M is part of the Centrino package. This processor is a variant on the Pentium processors from their desktop range, but with lots of different technologies and additions, making them quite different from the desktop versions. There are a number of Intel Centrino mobile laptop processors offered with the Sonoma revision of Intel Centrino mobile laptop technology. Intel Pentium M processors 780, 770, 760, 750, 740 and 730. They also offer Low voltage models in the 778 and 758 as well as two Ultra Low voltage models, the 753 and 733J. All of the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processors use 90nm manufacturing process, 2MB of L2 cache and various other technologies, including the Execute Disable Bit with the models that have a J at the end.

The Intel Centrino mobile laptop processors have some specific benefits which make them suitable for the mobile environment. One of the most obvious of the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor is the low volatage design. Low voltages allow Intel Centrino mobile notebooks to have lower power consumption, lengthening running time. As well as this there is technology to raise of drop the voltage of an Intel Centrino mobile notebook as necessary, further saving power.

Intel Centrino mobile notebooks also come with the Mobile Intel 915 Express Chipset. This chipset specifically designed for Intel Centrino mobile notebooks provides many new features that the older Intel Centrino mobile notebooks did not offer. Some of the most notable are the addition of SATA, PCI Express X16 for graphics, PCIe for the other cards internally and DDR2 400/533MHz. It is desgined specifically with the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor in mind.

For Intel Centrino mobile laptops SATA provides an increase in the performance of hard drives and DVD drives. This technology allows for faster transfer of information which speeds up all applications. PCI Express X16 is a breath of fresh air for those who are looking to get better graphics from their system and in particular, those who would like to play 3D games, which using the more recent Intel Centrino mobile notebooks has become more feasible. The internal PCI Express should also allow for speed increases for parts, and helps to pass more strain away from the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor.

Most beneficial for the Intel Centrino mobile laptop is the addition of DDR2 400/533MHz memory. DDR2 not only offers speed increases over the older DDR, but most importantly for mobile technology is that it consumes less power, just like the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor. Power saving is an everpresent concern for laptop users who have to work with limited battery life.

Intel Centrino mobile notebooks also include technology for wireless networking. Although this is nothing new, the technology has been improved and updated, supporting the latest technologies. There is much increased security from the newer Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG and 2200BG which increase security, have higher performance, better ease-of-use and better power management, allowing power saving. In short it is a fully featured card that gives everything you could need. It is specifically aimed at meeting the stringent needs of the business user who chooses an Intel Centrino mobile notebook.

The benefits of the Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor and Intel Centrino mobile laptop technology are clear and although you can get the same things from other combinations of parts there is a certain comfort in the combination. It allows you to be fairly certain of what to expect from your laptop and how much it will perform. Intel Centrino mobile notebooks have been around for a while now and on the whole there is a good reason they are so popular. The Intel Centrino mobile laptop processor in an Intel Centrino mobile laptop has become almost synonymous with mobile networking for laptops.

The technologies like telephone and wireless communication been invented more or less in the same period (actually in late 1870’s), soon after these two combined to give us the model for today’s mobile phone. People later started using these radio phones fitted inside their cars and its antennas been mounted on the top. However, because of lesser channels available, more people were not able to use these radiophones. To add, you can compare that day mobile phone to a CB radio or a walkie-talkie to understand it better.

Today, the smarter thing about mobile system is splitting up of an area into smaller cells thus enabling millions of people to use the mobile phones simultaneously. Mobile systems function in a way that within a cell area, at least 56 people can talk on their mobile phone at a time. In another side, to send and receive the tower signals, mobile phones are equipped with low-power transmitters.

Related to technology, its first generation, which used analog signals is called 1G. Digital transmission coming into existence, the number of channels increased which were of 2G mobile technology. The mobile technologies, which were later developed, claimed superiority over the earlier. The current 3G mobile phones offer you unbelievable features like email, stereo sounds and video. In the power consumption part, battery-operated mobile phones normally consume low power and this has made the possibility of having handheld mobile phones.

Another important aspect with the mobile phone is the services offered to the subscribers are of cheap rate. This is because mobile phone system requires a number of base stations in a region to operate its service.
